NI EN MORE

NI EN MORE is a social innovation project merging political activism, fashion and art. Founded by the artists Lise Bjorne Linnert (Oslo, Norway) and Jane Terrazas (Juárez, Mexico), along with Human Rights activist Veronica Corchado (Juárez, Mexico).

At its core is a women’s sewing studio in Juárez, Mexico, that offers a safe environment, fair wages, education and training to women living in vulnerable conditions.

NI EN MORE shows what on-the-ground solutions look like, and continues to inspire others to build the world we want to see.

MiHISTORIA

A living archive of Latina/Chicana/Hispana/Indigena/Afro-Latina stories

MiHistoria.net is a collaborative storytelling project that bears witness to the Latina experience, strengthens inter-generational ties, builds bridges of understanding between urban and rural women, and empowers Latinas to become the authors of our own stories.

The idea for MiHistoria was born in 2010 with the Chicana/Latina Foundation’s The Power of Storytelling workshop, and was co-founded by storyteller, facilitator and curator Albertina Zarazúa Padilla and documentary filmmaker and consultant Laurie Coyle.

Written by Bruno López Petzoldt

Publisher: CALAS & Bielefeld University Press/transcript

Lourdes Portillo:

The Devil Never Sleeps and Other Films

Edited by Rosa Linda Fregoso

The first study of Portillo and her films, this collection is collaborative and multifaceted in approach, emphasizing aspects of authorial creativity, audience reception, and production processes typically hidden from view. Rosa Linda Fregoso, the volume editor, has organized the book into three parts: interviews (by Fregoso and Kathleen Newman and B. Ruby Rich); critical perspectives (essays by Fregoso, Yvonne Yarbro-Bejarano, Sylvie Thouard, Norma Iglesias, and Barbara McBane); and production materials (screenplays, script notes, storyboards, etc.).

By describing the production constraints Portillo has surmounted, Fregoso deepens our appreciation of this gifted filmmaker's life, her struggles, and the evolution of her art.
